Steve Briggs appointed to OneAmerica board of directors

Indianapolis (Oct. 7, 2008) – The board of directors for OneAmerica® Financial Partners, Inc. has appointed Birmingham, Ala. resident Steve Briggs, CLU, ChFC as its newest member.

An established corporate executive with 39 years of experience in the life insurance industry, Briggs has served as a field agent, general manager and company director with leadership and senior management roles in the life insurance and annuity lines of business. Additionally, he has served in a sales and marketing capacity. During his career, Briggs has held leadership roles with companies such as First Protective Insurance Group, Empire General Life Assurance Corporation and Protective Life Corporation. He is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College.

As a board member, Briggs will advise the executive leadership team on business strategies and corporate governance practices that will position the OneAmerica® companies for growth in the life insurance, employee benefits and retirement services markets.

“I am honored and privileged to be serving as a board member for OneAmerica and to have the opportunity to work alongside some of the brightest in the business,” Briggs said. “I also hope to work closely with leadership to encourage innovation and the pursuit of best practices that can further strengthen the company’s position in the marketplace.”

In addition to his accomplishments in the life insurance industry, Briggs serves as a director for the United Way of Central Alabama and chairman for the Foundry Drug and Alcohol Recovery Center and the Edward Lee Norton Board of Advisors at Birmingham-Southern College. Additionally, he is a past board member of Junior Achievement of Ala., the Birmingham Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Rotary Club of Birmingham, LIMRA International and LOMA. He is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table and a member of NAIFA and the Ala. Planned Giving Council.
