Our History
From a small local MGU to a nationally recognized direct-writer model, R. E. Moulton (REM) has come a long way since opening our doors in 1976. As we near our 35th anniversary, we reflect on the key milestones from our storied history.
Timeline
| 1976 | Coinciding with the introduction of ERISA, R. E. Moulton opens its doors in Marblehead, MA |
| 1995 | R. E. Moulton begins aggressive expansion with distribution offices opened across the country |
| 2000 | R. E. Moulton first establishes a general underwriter relationship with AUL. |
| 2003 | American United Life Insurance Company (AUL) purchases R. E. Moulton, making REM a wholly owned subsidiary of the companies of OneAmerica®. As employees of AUL, REM is charged with growing, managing, marketing and administering the stop loss product for AUL. |
| 2007 | Sales offices added in Denver (CO), Kansas City (KS), and North Royalton/Cleveland (OH), bringing our footprint up to 8 nationwide locations. |
| 2009 | Sales office added in Charlotte (NC) - totaling 9 nationwide regional locations. |
| Today | What has not changed over our 30+ years is our commitment to our customers and the self-funded marketplace. We continue to provide direction and solutions to employers looking to protect their self-funded health plan assets. Being part of the OneAmerica® family of companies gives us the strength and stability to build upon that goal. |
